I’ve been trained by the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education in the use of creative art in counselling. I use a sand tray, miniatures, stones, clay, drama, movement, puppets, music, paint and poetry. Art enables feelings and experiences to be explored when words seem insufficient. Being able to look at your experience from these perspectives can give you the distance you need.
I have adapted various art forms for use online with both adults and children, for example an online sand tray.
Using the creative arts can also be very helpful for expressing feelings that are overwhelming and scary, or if you are feeling numb and unsure what is going on for you.
The choice will always lie with you and what you feel will be best to support you.
